Any direct experience of Lambeth Academy in Clapham?

Hello,
I'm looking for parents who have children at Lambeth Academy, particularly in Year 9. I would be so grateful if you could give me any feedback on your children's experience there. My son has been offered a place there and we don't know anything about the school. Thank you

Thank you Soniaz. I got a positive feedback from one person I contacted privately through Mumsnet (I assumed from previous posts that her children were there, and they are). We also visited today. It gave a good impression. Hopefully we'll get a few replies. 🤞

Oh that’s good to hear - thank you for letting me know! We’re just about to move into the area and I really liked the look of it and also saw it wasn’t oversubscribed.

I don't have a child at the school but considered it for secondary. It had a troubled start and got rather a bad reputation in the area gangs/drugs etc - but has been improving since United Learning stepped in. My impression was it was strict but fair, the kids seem mature and willing to learn but not like they had been brow-beaten into doing so. It has always been undersubscribed due to its past reputation and now there is a new Harris Academy just down the road which has attracted many pupils away. I think it is a good local school and would chose it over the Harris as the better Clapham option.

Yes, I know kids who go there and they are happy and doing well. It really just seems to be its former reputation that some people can't see past.
