Eastbourne college for very academic child?

Been offered a substantial bursary
Very academic
Very sporty, in A teams for rugby and cross country
Fiercely competitive!

The bursary is so tempting
But
Is this the right school for a child like this?

I love the facilities, and the surroundings are sensational. In terms of the sports offering - world class and he will absolutely thrive
But academic wise - I’m not sure. And don’t know how to probe really.

Any thoughts or experience?

Many thanks

I've never heard of it ... so I guess it's not on the radar for academic schools?

Not perceived generally as academic. What other options do you have in comparison?

How academic is your child? They seem to send a handful of children to oxbridge every year so it’s not as if your child would be out of place being bright. They also seem to get a number of children achieving straight a*/8/9 at GCSE. I chose a school at a similar academic level for my son despite him gaining entry to much more academic schools, i felt like as a whole the less academic school would suit him.

My daughter is at EBC, in her last year. It has been an absolutely fantastic school in terms of being an all rounder. She achieved all 9s at GCSE while also being involved with drama, music (piano, clarinet and singing) so much sport etc etc. I cannot praise the school enough. Have you spoken with admissions? I'm sure they would furnish you with any info you might require.
