When to visit state secondaries?

Form needs completing by October for Sep2024 admissions - when do I view schools? Do I call and ask for individual visits? Or are there typical days when they open for potential new parents/students to look around?

We didn't really need to bother because we were in a superb feeder. Like others we started the year before so we had plenty of time. Seems very late to be starting now? Have you just moved?

No but when I asked friends with older kids they all said they did their visits September, filled the forms in October then waited til the March to hear.

If anything I worried I was being too obsessive considering it all at this point.

That was the time frame when I applied with my child. That didn't stop me from looking into ofstead, asking other parents, finding out information on line and looking up bus routes before this time. The majority of parents didn't get information evenings for the last 2 years.

We visited a couple in Sept last year for our Y5 DS but we discovered that 4 schools we might want to visit had their open day on the same day so we thought we'd better get 2 of them out of the way.
