Hello

Please hoping you can help

My daughter is in Y4 now so looking at potential high schools

I'm still a bit confused on the private/grammar school selection but she will definitely be sitting for the 11+ exams

Can anyone recommend good grammar/independent schools around Surrey/South west London area ?

Thank you

Where do you live at the moment?
Re grammars you have the option of Slough, Tiffin and Sutton but I'm not familiar with the catchments. There are lots of details on www.elevenplusexams.co.uk in the Surrey section.

Re private, can you speak to other parents at your primary school and find out where children in the current year 6 often go to? Otherwise you have lots of choice....

You have loads and loads of choice @ Croydon. You have the 2 x Sutton grammar schools and then private you can head over towards Kent, down to Woldingam/Caterham, over to Epsom, up to Clapham. Local parents will be more help.

Wallington Girls and Nonsuch are the girls' grammars. Too far for Tiffins. Might be out of catchment for Nonsuch too, so a higher score would be needed, but easily in catchment for Wallington Girls.

Tests for the grammars are English and maths curriculum-based. No VR/NVR. If your daughter is working at greater depth in everything in Yr 4, some prep in Year 5 to cover the rest of the ks2 curriculum and exam practice to speed up should be enough for an in-catchment place.
