Our daughter is very interested in Science and Maths. She is working at a much higher level in Maths in school. Are there any secondary schools which are great for Science? I recently found about Maths schools which look great, but are quite few. I am wondering if there are similar Science focused schools - Engineering, design technology, Maths, Physics,...where a lot of children go on to pursue Sciences in College.
Not really location specific right now. Will just be great to have a list of schools to work with, since we can move for the right school and work from home.
Thanks a lot.

Manchester High School for Girls has a strong academic science focus.

Any good school is potentially very good. DD went to our local comp and was very inspired by a PhD science teacher. She got 4x A* in maths and science A Levels (I think she got a lot of extra nurturing because the school doesn't get many at her level).

She is now studying for a masters in a science subject at one of the best unis in the world.

You’ve got to be a very bright, committed kid to get in though. That applies to just about all the schools (state or private) mentioned on this thread.

SPGS is the best for those subjects.

Townley Gammar in Bexleyheath, not super selective but all girls ( until 6th form) and STEM specialism. Maybe worth a look? Need to be in area ideally by year 5 for 11+ and applications though..big catchment though..

I would move to Bucks. All the co Ed grammars would teach to a high level in stem. However Engineeing is rarely taught. Technology would be. My DH did Engineering A level back in the day but you hardly ever see it now. Mainly because it’s not a requirement anywhere.

The grammars here are not super selective like Colchester. However there are plenty of girls who do stem at schools such as Aylesbury High, Wycombe High, Beaconsfield High and Dr Challoners Grammar. You just need to live in catchment and follow the rules for Bucks 11 plus as detailed on the BCC web site. It’s a far less risky strategy than going for a super selective.,
