Wait till the day 11th Feb: excruciating for me. How are you lovely parents planning to cope?

Few times I was anxious for 14th February. Never thought I will wait this intensely for 11th February :-)) Work, wine and then??? What else???

Um, what's happening on the 11th February?

Sounds too late for 11+ results and too early for state school school places?

MaizeAmaze · 25/01/2022 17:37

Offers day (for state) is 1 March.

dreadingthetime · 25/01/2022 18:21

:-) Offer day for majority London independent schools

Me too. Who are you waiting for?

11Plus2022 · 25/01/2022 20:41

Me too. With almost all the assessments over, and most schools close to making their decisions it seems a long wait to Feb 11.

I really think that with so many schools now doing assessments in Nov/Dec they could reconsider the timescales. Previously for many schools the whole process took just over a month (early Jan to mid Feb). Now it’s more like three (mid Nov to mid Feb).

I had a mini heart attack today when I got an email from a school, couldn’t see full title on phone but saw the word ‘Results’…turns out it was just to confirm we’ll hear from them on the 11th, aarrgghhh

annaseal · 26/01/2022 06:03

Yes I had that as well yesterday Confused Poor lady only wanted to thank all and provide info on when we will hear next Grin

springisnear · 26/01/2022 13:16

Book a holiday for Feb half term and spend time looking forward to that!

I did exactly the same two years ago and kept thinking whatever happens come results day (which is always conveniently planned to be before half term) we are going to enjoy life!

Most people I know did the same. Life is so much more than exams and school places.

Meimng · 26/01/2022 13:49

I think I'm not the only one who keeps refreshing the email inbox...

MissScotland · 26/01/2022 14:38

It's going to be long two weeks. We are not done yet with the interviews/scholarship. Got one more long day on Saturday. How am I planning to cope? Basically saying yes to whatever is thrown at me :-) Volunteering at school, lunches with good friends, coffees with fellow school mums etc etc etc :-)

Jumpalicious · 26/01/2022 18:31

It is EXCRUCIATING! Last year, I actually had to go for a walk first thing and listen to some ridiculous new age meditation positivity soundtrack on loop. It was the only way to calm me down 😆. But. The day passes. You deal with it.

Also, I kept focussing on the fact that by Saturday, I’d know everything…

One more thing: you really only need ONE offer. Hopefully, you’ve included a range of options including an “easy (ish)” one. In the end, everyone in my child’s class got something! If everything goes completely wrong, then there are also some (usually non academic) schools that take late applications!

good luck everyone.

Boombastic22 · 30/01/2022 21:28

Gosh, I think you sound pretty privileged. Many people can’t hope to afford private fees.

user072302 · 31/01/2022 11:45

yes - good to know I'm not the only one feeling panicky. We started off being pretty agnostic to schools, even the type of school (state/grammar/private), but after going through this whole process and having visited some of these schools multiple times for tests/interview etc, I now have a clear preference for one of them, which doesn't make things easy at all......

Also feel like I got sucked into the whole thing and need to get some perspective.

MissScotland · 31/01/2022 12:04

@user072302 I can totally sympathise with that.
I tried very hard to stay neutral but now that we have visited each school numerous times you do get attached :-) I'm hoping the next two weeks will be a nice recovery.

dreadingthetime · 31/01/2022 13:38

Not many days to go now parents. I have actually printed out a calendar and crossing off days :-} @springisnear lovely suggestion. Booked a weekend break for the coming weekend!! @MissScotland @user072302 on visiting the schools I can now rank them easy enough. Though that created another dilemma. My first choice is lower in league table rank than my second.

Bookmarking my place too.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one refreshing my inbox!

1309usernameu · 02/02/2022 17:42

Offer just came through from my daughter’s favourite school.

It will make the wait for the last school easier.

Good luck to everyone!

annaseal · 03/02/2022 08:05

@1309usernameu congratulation to your DD!! Great news! Good luck to all who are waiting to hear in next few days!

7 more days, 8 more sleeps for us 😬😬

Meimng · 03/02/2022 13:29

Congrats @1309usernameu celebration time!

DilettanteMum · 03/02/2022 14:19

We are done as DD first choice was a boarding. Already sent in the acceptance letter. 🙌

I feel your pain though. That refreshing the email hour was a doozy.

1309usernameu · 03/02/2022 14:45

Thanks!

I’m glad the school decided to let us know this early, even though they must know they won’t get many acceptances until most people hear on the 11th.

dreadingthetime · 03/02/2022 16:12

@DilettanteMum Congratulation!! Happy Days!

For those who have heard, is it an email or letter?

whatinname · 10/02/2022 09:28

Nearly getting there. 1 more sleep and few hours for us
