City of London Boys results

Hi,

I have just got the results for my son and he is not invited for the interview. I was a bit surprise by this outcome.

Any idea how many boys are called for the interview stage? (the letter stated that 800 sat the written exam).

Thanks

Hi Kate, last year it was around 150 I believe.

Honestly, of all the schools, City was the surprise for us too.

In our case, he did get an interview but was waitlisted. However, what's odd is that he got scholarships to other top (higher ranked than City) indie schools he applied for. And passed to his first choice London SS grammar (i.e. beating 3000 other boys who sat that exam!). I still can't work out what happened with City!

They've plummeted down the league tables too. Not in the top 20 UK schools anymore. Who knows what is going on. FWIW City was my favourite school of the lot...

Also interested to know how many they invite for interview.

@lookhappy yes City seems to have really climbed down the league tables, but it gave me all the right feels when we went for open day (not sure if it's the location that did it for me). We were taken around by a couple of lovely Yr6 boys, they were so wonderful and polite, but not scripted/rehearsed which I thought was the case for some other schools we visited.

@user5756757987 I know - same for us. We really loved it, more than any of the other schools in fact (the schools that were falling over themselves to have our son at their school!).

I am pretty sure it's around 150. I wrote it down in a book after an open day.

For what is worth, the Times league table this year is not really up to date as it is based on average results from 2017-2019. The ranking may well change again when normal exams come back.
