Any ideas as to school choice for a intelligent child, who is ahead academically, but will need good pastoral care and SEN provision?

The Compton in North Finchley is supposed to be amazing for pastoral care and children with special educational needs.

I have heard Archer Academy in East Finchley is also good but i know their catchment area is tiny.

Where abouts in north London?

NOTANUM · 28/07/2021 18:20

If you are Jewish, there is JCOSS which is amazing for children with ASD and good pastoral care overall.

Otherwise where exactly do you live? It matters little unless you are in catchment, e.g. APS mentioned above has a very tight catchment.

Heartland in Wood Green also have a very good reputation for pastoral care as has Totteridge Academy in Barnet.

Islington, near the tube station. I am aware of the lack of choice, but there is a slim chance of getting an EHCP.

What about St Mary Magdalene?

hibbledibble · 29/07/2021 18:31

It's an option Polly. Do you know how good it is for SEN/autism provision?

I’m afraid I don’t so probably shouldn’t have chipped in, but didn’t they open a specialist autism unit linked to the main school - so I assume they must be able to access expertise - and I gather they are supposed to be good on pastoral.

Suggestions are welcome Polly. It's just really hard to decide which school is best currently when none are doing tours.

Following. Does anyone have experience of Acland Burghley School in Tufnell Park for this?
