To email a teacher now after the end of term. Yes or no?

Messaged a head of Subject a few weeks ago and they said they will set a reminder to chat before the end of term. On Wednesday, I emailed and reminded them. They said they have so many people to call, could I put in an email. Anyway, I didn't get around to it Thurs/Fri. Could I put in an email now? Or is that a big no as now in school hols?

I think it's fine since it's pre arranged. They will be working in holidays and checking mail at different times. It's definitely b send it since it's been going on a while and they asked for an email.

Sorry I think you’ve missed your chance now- you should have done it thur/ fri. Unless it’s something vital that they need to know the first day back, wait until September.

Many subject leaders work during the holidays but you won't be able to expect a reply until September.

lannistunut · 24/07/2021 06:44

Yes it is fine, you can specify you are happy to wait til September if they are not replying to emails.

Is it incredibly important (struggling to see how it could be when you let the call go for weeks and then didn’t send the email in the window you had)? If it’s not life and death, wait until September. Whilst a lot of teachers will work during the holidays, they are getting their planning done and sorting classrooms. They shouldn’t be getting emails from parents with any expectation of replies.

I think it’s fine to email but expect that you won’t necessarily get a reply. Many teachers will work and pick up emails over the holidays (I certainly do) but others will not. If you email now and don’t get a reply I wouldn’t follow it up in the holidays and would wait to email again in September.

I wouldn't chase it but thought I'd email and say sorry I didn't email before end of term. Understand if you are not replying in holidays etc etc..

Just wait until September. It’s rude of you if you couldn’t be bothered in the last few days.

As I said upthread, unless your child has a new medical issue that will impact on the first day. Just wait.
