Bullers Wood girls school

Hello

We recently moved to Chislehurst and we need to apply for Secondary School in October. Our closest school is Bullers Wood. I would be grateful for opinions regarding this school: Teaching, general atmosphere, behaviour. Is this a happy school that supports girls from different abilities?

Thanks in advance

Bumping. Hopefully will get some opinions as we don't know anyone with girls there; we do know is well regarded from what I have read but would like some feedback from people with girls there.

Didn't want to leave you unanswered. My DD is coming to the end of year 7 at Bullers now and has been very happy and done well so far, although obviously the experience hasn't been entirely normal this year. They were put in sets for English and Maths from January and the level she's working at seems appropriate for her, I'd say (not top set, but towards the upper end, as far as I can gather). She's made a nice group of friends and I haven't had any concerns with behaviour or teaching. Extra-curricular activities limited this year apart from some sports clubs, but hopefully options will increase next year. Basically: so far, so good!

Thank you very much. I appreciate you taking the time to reply. I find secondary school decisions quite daunting. I think I just want to find a school where my daughter will feel happy, supported , have a nice group of friends and achieve the best within her capabilities.

Buller Woods seems like a lovely a school and a perfect fit for her. I hope we can go and see it in September.

It's a lovely school, mine will be going there and have never heard anything bad. It caters well for all abilities.

DH teaches at the boys school, and although it has taken some space from the girls school, it will increase the girls' opportunities once bloody covid is over. PM me if you want any more specific info.

No problem! I found the whole application process very stressful at the time!

BTW, if you want a little peek at the grounds and a chat with some current parents, the PTA are having a uniform and book/DVD sale at the school on Saturday 10th July at 10am to midday.

Katy73 · 23/06/2021 11:48

These comments are so reassuring and helpful. We may pop over to the uniform/book sale, thanks for the information. Good to know they have an active PTA as well.

Just one more question regarding lunch: do they stagger it? do all girls get a chance to eat a hot meal or do they take packed lunches?

There are several lunch service areas, and currently the year groups are assigned a particular one to reduce mixing across bubbles. DD is taking a packed lunch at the moment because it means less time queuing up and more time with her friends. She's previously had school lunches and the choice seemed pretty good most of the time, but there can be a long wait in the queue if they're not first out of class.

Katy73 · 23/06/2021 12:42

Thank you. That seems to be the case in most secondary schools reg lunches and big queues. it makes sense to take a packed lunch and have more time to enjoy their break with the friends.

Hello. I recently moved to this area Mottingham/Chislehurst and I have to move my daughter school. She is at the moment at a Secondary in Beckenham but the journey on the bus takes at least 1H15 mins. She is on the waiting list for Bullers but it seems we have no chance on getting in as she is 7th place. Anyone one has any info about Chislehurst school for girls,Coopers or Harris Greenwich are other schools in the area.Thank you

Annazd · 24/05/2023 15:56

Any opinions about Coopers please? We are moving to Chislehurst and would like some honest opinion please.

Historic dreadful reputation. Wouldn't touch it.
