It started off as an article in the Times

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/top-private-school-faces-parents-fury-after-encouraging-pupils-to-change-sex-vrsdh5stc

but now the journalist has announced on Twitter that she was told to keep quiet about the gender training session.

All the papers have picked it up now.

Oh that’s the wrong article. The one written by the woman told to keep quiet is this one...

I don't think you should be surprised - a school of that status will have a strong PR team who deal with crisis management by trying to shut down stories. It is a business first, educational establishment second, otherwise it wouldn't survive.

Good point @Hoopa. Though you’d think after the SP boys’ school scandal they’d try and keep themselves out of the papers.

They need to balance being visible (for the right reasons) with fire fighting the negative stories. No different to any other business. They'll probably have a couple of full time PRs to manage things.

They probably don't want to give the point more weight that it deserves - they must have so many others speakers coming in to speak to staff about so many themes. Badly managed by the PR team though if it got that reaction from the journalist!
