tights when DD doesn't like tights

DDs new school are strict re: skirts with tights or black trousers.

DD feels she is too hot.

She hates tights but socks / long socks not allowed.

DD is secondary age

So what are the options to make her comfortable whilst sticking to school uniform? She would be the only girl wearing black trousers as I haven't seen any of the other girls without a skirt on.

@noblegiraffe

Socks are allowed at my school but no one wears them, it would be social death.
My dd used to be the only one wearing over the knee socks with a skirt but in the last year or so I've seen others join in. She hates tights and the girls seem to spend their day hoiking them back into position.

Call the school and ask them. I cannot imagine any school banning socks to be honest, and it is mentioned in their policy. Maybe it is the social thing not to wear them. But in summer/ autumn/ spring are the comfiest thing ever.

I saw a Y7 walking into school with bare legs the other day and did a double take because it looked wrong as so unusual!

DD is in Y10 and wears a skirt (rolled up, naturally) and trainer socks. There is so much leg! She is not alone. This is a private school too - I'm surprised they let it go given it contravenes skirt length and sock height!

@avamiah

I would recommend John Lewis girls Opaque tights in black or grey, they are very thin and lightweight.You get 2 in a pack for £4.50 but stock up as they can snag easily being thin. My daughter is Year 6 primary starting secondary in September and she loves them.
I don't think the sizes are big enough for DD who is a tall girl.

Also she could be the only one wearing trousers as no one seems to wear them. And there are school events where the skirt is required.
