Hi Mums!

We're moving to Wokingham and our 2 daughters will be in Year 7 and Year 9 this September. We will live very close to The Holt School (15mins walk) and St Crispin's (5mins walk). Understood these 2 schools are very popular and full already, we still want to try our luck to apply. Got some questions in mind:

  • Any comments on The Holt School? Have read some scary comments from the internet. Is it a strict and pushy school? Would like to know about bullying issue particularly. Is it serious? How does the school deal with bullying?
  • Any comments on St Crispin's?

Million thanks!

There is a Wokingham gossip girl page on Facebook. I would apply to that and ask this question. You will get lots of honest feedback from mums that have children there. Good luck.

I have friends who have taught at both and friends with children at both. I would be happy to send a child of mine to either.

Hi, they are both good schools. The main difference is that St. Crispin’s is coeducation and Holt is all girls. Holt is a bigger school in terms of pupil numbers, about 1,600 vs 1,100 at St Crispin’s, but it is on a smaller plot, so it might feel more crowded. Holt has a much bigger catchment area (about 5 miles vs under 1 mile), that could be a consideration in terms of how far away any future friends are likely to live. We visited both schools just before the lockdown, IMO the pupils at St Crispin’s seemed to be happier at school. Are your daughters currently in a co-ed school? If so, they might be happier at St Crispin’s, as the environment would be similar.
