Secondary private in West Sussex (11+ rather than 13+)

We are seriously considering relocating to West Sussex (husband works from home, even post lockdown I only need to be in the office a maximum of 2 days per week) and, as a family, love the outdoors. My daughter is currently at a lovely private primary in SW and we would be looking at a secondary private in West Sussex - we are aware of Ardingly, Burgess Hill Girls, Hurst (though not sure if there is an entry point at 11+ or only at 13+). Any views on them, or any others, would be most appreciated. TIA

Hi there,

We have been to Hurstpierpoint College and Burgess Hill Girls this week. Slightly different to you in the fact we are looking at reception. Both have a different feel and I think it depends on what your daughter is like and what she is after. We have decided on BH as we felt that it was more nurturing and that is what our little one needs. The Head is very impressive and the values and the motto of the school all really spoke to us. If you can speak to the heads on video and go and see the schools and as my mum would have said - Trust what you and your daughter feel about the schools. Good luck. Xxx

@Mumof2littlebears, thanks for your comment. We are arranging to attend open days at the schools - as you say, you need to get a feeling for the place. I was keen, however, to complement that (but not replace) with feedback from parents / those with direct experience of the schools in question. Burgess Hill Girls does seem lovely.... we have a slight preference for co-ed but that might change ... we have over a year to make the decision...
