What are the differences between these three schools? Any advice on which is better?

Dear All,
Can anyone suggest practice materials for Cheltenham ladies college? My DD has an exam in January and I am so inexperienced at this as it's my first. I look forward to helpful responses.
Thank you

@Doctormum2021 , is your dd currently at a state primary school? If state then possibly consider getting her a tutor to prepare her.

Doctormum2021 · 15/10/2021 10:44

@cricketjoys85 I have a private tutor but she is not making progress as DD has not managed to pass the initial assessment at Benenden and DH. I am worried that would she be able to pass Cheltenham's exam in January? Can you recommend tutors personally who are experienced in getting girls to Cheltenhams?
Thank you

I have two DDs at CLC and its a stunning school. high pressure - high achieving - stunning facilities. Happy to chat on FB to anyone wanting ideas/info.

cricketjoys85 · 15/10/2021 12:18

@ speak to the tutor and consider some other schools, schools select pupils that will suit their learning, if your dd isn't getting past the first post then consider schools that are suitable for her pace. How about Westonbirt?

Doctormum2021 · 15/10/2021 13:23

@RosieBenenden How do I chat with you on FB? What's your let FB profile ?

Doctormum2021 · 15/10/2021 13:24

@cricketjoys85 Thank you. She prefers boarding school, not sure about other good ones.

Doctormum2021 · 15/10/2021 13:25

@RosieBenenden yes happy to chat. I will appreciate your guidance.
Thank you

Are you sure CLC is the right school for her? I think most children are far happier in the middle of the pack at a slightly less academic school than at the bottom of the pack of a very high-powered one. Being at the bottom doesn't stretch them - it demotivates them.

cricketjoys85 · 15/10/2021 13:30

@Doctormum2021 , why don't you buy The Good Schools guide and draw up a list of less academic boarding schools and then contact their registrars. Also ask Beneden and DH for feedback so you know what areas to work on.

Doctormum2021 · 15/10/2021 13:32

Thank you for the advice. I will buy that

@Doctormum2021 Please don’t take this the wrong way but if your DD hasn’t made it through the first rounds for Benenden and DH even with tutoring then it is unlikely she will pass CLC in January with even the most intensive tuition.

What makes a “good” school isn’t necessary the one with the best results where they are selecting only the very brightest in the first place. The schools to look for are the ones that get the best grades considering the much wider academic abilities there.

Moreton Hall, Tudor Hall etc are worth a look.

RosieBenenden · 15/10/2021 13:54

send me a pvt message and can give you FB details

I went to St. Mary's Ascot. In my day, a nun was head and had a strong catholic ethos. It's still a catholic school.

Doctormum2021 · 15/10/2021 14:05

That's golden. Thank you

Zodlebud · 15/10/2021 19:24

Roedean also worth a look.

Pinkyxx · 17/10/2021 09:48

Queen Anne's? I'm not sure if they offer full boarding or not though.
