Disastrous school allocation - Help needed with next steps

The worst has happened and we’ve not been allocated a place at any of our preferred schools. We’ve been offered a place at an awful school. I can’t sleep and I’m not sure what to do next.

Putting it that way is better but you need to be careful about how it comes across.

Realistically, do I have much chance of success at an appeal? I’d rather put my energy into moving house so he can go to the wonderful school I found with places 25 miles away if we don’t have much of a chance.

I’m conscious that appeals are held in June which is also when I have a major exam I need to pass - the final hurdle to become fully qualified in a profession I’ve been studying almost 6 years. I don’t want to waste my time if it’s a non starter.

My only real arguments are that school he has been allocated doesn’t offer triple science and as he has anxiety and is a young carer it would be good for him to have the support of his existing friendship group.

In my position do you think I’m better concentrating on relocating? The main thing putting me off is we would have to relocate to a town, which feels claustrophobic as we are used to a semi-rural village and I worry it would be less safe for one of my other children with ASD who is prone to running away.

I'd focus on an appeal. Then on an in year transfer in the future if need be.
