Hi all. We are waitlisted for Eltham and have a place offered at St Dunstans. Not been to see either as DD was keen on girls schools going into year 6 but over Christmas has decided on co-ed. Our original decision was to take the waitlist place at Eltham if offered and use St D as back up. However, St D has really really impressed with their events for parents. I think DD would be really happy there. Love the mix of co-curricular and subjects. Also love the focus on mental health which we have struggled with in lock down.
Think Eltham is a bit stuffy and old fashioned. Am I wrong to say no to Eltham if they phone me with a wait list place?

St Dustans is a lovely school and it has a very nice and vibrant atmosphere, lots of extra curricular activities, including trips and sports. It is good academically without being too pushy or competitive.

Go with your gut feeling. Top 30 means nothing if your child is going to be unhappy.

I’m absolutely with @Kerry987 we just turned down jags and whs for phs.. less academic but warm, friendly and our guts were there. You know your child. Go with your gut. If they are happy they will do well. xx

Thanks all really helpful. We set it all down yesterday - my DH was very impressed with the lower fees and general cost (school bus vs public transport) as well! We will pay our deposit on St Dunstan's today.
