I don’t know anything about the two other schools but can speak from experience of Bedford school. I have a boarding dc there and the school has been fantastic. They have an excellent balance of academics/sports/ extra curricular. It’s a very nurturing school that has helped my dc to develop into the confident and organised individual he is today.. I’ve no complaints about teaching, there are clinics to support those who need extra support and the teachers are very inspirational. During the pandemic lessons were online and I got to listen to some of them and was quite impressed. Throughout the pandemic they’r there were regular lessons and coursework and feedback. Music lessons continued online including morning sign ins, assemblies etc.

If your dc loves sport, Bedford is great for it as they don’t joke with their sport.they do the usual rugby, football, cricket, including rowing if he fancies that. Loads of societies and Discipline is very good.
Although it’s not a full boarding school (a third board) it has a great boarding atmosphere and enough boys to mingle with and have fun over weekends.

DS is not particularly sporty but they have excellent art and music departments which DS is very much into, so there’s something for everyone. If you have any further questions feel free to ask.

I am a parent of a boy in Yr7 and a girl in Yr2 at Clifton College. They have both been there since nursery and absolutely love it.
As a parent, when choosing a school, the pastoral offering was very important to me. I researched a number of schools in the area and found Clifton College to excel in this area. This has certainly proved to be the case over the years.
The teaching is first rate, with small classes for each subject. Support is offered to those that need additional learning support within the Coach House. This is another fantastic facility that all parents who use it rave about. Additionally, stretch classes are offered to those at the top end to ensure all pupils reach their own potential.
The College has about 50% boarders (either full time or flexi-boarding) and 50% day pupils. Each pupil is assigned to a house. These are lively places where there is always something going on. Outside of the normal school day, and at weekends, there are activities for the boarders to keep them entertained and stimulated.
There is something for everyone at Clifton College – opportunities to participate in a whole host of sports, music, art, drama within the College’s own 315-seater Redgrave theatre. There is also a 90 acre sports centre called Beggars Bush.
It's a truly a wonderful school full of happy, busy children.
Happy to answer any other questions you may have. Good luck with the decision.
