St Marylebone School - Is it really as amazing as people say it is?

I hear incredibly good things about it, and aside from the small footprint and lunches in classrooms, I wonder what else is worth thinking through about it? Have a few closer options in MH/East Finchley and wanted to see if St Marylebone is as amazing as people used to think it is, or if we should focus on the less-raved-about but walkable school.

It's a good school. Lots of people near me, friends included, have DDs there and are very happy. My DD wasn't keen on it, but I was impressed by the staff and Head.

However, I am much closer to the school than you are. I'm not at all sure I'd schlep a child from N10 (or thereabouts) to W1 every day for St M when there are such strong options more locally to you. Would your child really do better at St M than Fortismere, APS or Archer? There are a few active threads on here about schools in your area.

I would advise thinking very carefully about such a long commute for secondary. Aside from which, unless you're in the top tier for church attendance (or nab one of the hugely competitive performing arts places), would you even get in from that far away?

We live near you and had a choice of going with a pretty much guaranteed place. It really was nice but we chose against it and went local. V happy Y8 DD now and the no commute bit has been great during this whole ordeal.

get your daughter to actually make the journey, alone, and see how she feels about doing that every day, both ways, in all weathers, hold ups etc.
