Ashmole Academy Music Aptitude Place

Hello - can anyone please help?
Ashmole Academy has 20 places to offer for Musical Aptitude.
After an initial Musical Aptitude Test - 100 get through to the audition round and then ranked.
Does anyone know how high their child has ranked and still gotten into the school?
We got our letter today that said Congratulations to child of bananaramaboo who has been successful and ranked following the audition stage of Musical Aptitude Test.

They have ranked ( a number over 40) at the audition stage of the test. This means that they can be considered for a music place under our admissions criteria.

What I would like to know is how likely is it they will get in to the school with a rank over 40 with only 20 places on offer?

I assume there will be some families who may try more than one school and so won't accept their place.... but is it too much of a long shot?

Any advice welcome.

Hi Banaramaboo
Congratulations I really hope it all goes well, problem is twenty children would have to turn down the offer for your child to be accepted. If you have another good school in mind and put it down as second place you’ll be jeopardising you’re chances. It’s a tough one! Good luck

How did it go?

I realise this is an old thread but you are NOT jeopardising your chances by putting a school second. Schools do not give priority to people who put them first. The equal preference system has been law across England since 2007 (and used in many areas before that) so you should always list schools in your genuine order of preference. If someone puts a school sixth but meets the admission criteria better than someone who put it first, the person who put the school sixth would get a place before them.

I know that this is an old thread, but I was wondering if your child got a place at Ashmole through the MAT and how difficult the auditions were. Thank you

@Lovingred Hello, did you message me? Haven’t been on here for years! My user name is diff but same me.
She was actually 21 on the list! Can you believe it. It was a matter of either risking it by waiting on a child who might drop out for another school, and loosing out on 2nd choice which was Fortismere School. I know for a fact they would have turned us down because of the high demand. Or just taking a
massive risk waiting on Ashmole. We decided to opt out and go for Fortismere where she’s very happy in Yr10 now. I actually wanted her to go Camden girls but the MAT was crazy! If you had an excellent ear, even Grade one music and inexperienced, you could have made it in the last eight out of nearly 200! Didn’t make sense and it didn’t happen anyway. Apparently their council changed the rules.
Whats your situation?
