Hi am looking to send my dd to Henrietta Barnet. Travel from Watford. What are the school transport options - buses only and how much do they cost. thanks

I have 2 at Watford Girls and would never have entertained HBS because of the distance. However there are a few girls who do make the journey from Watford to Hampstead Garden Suburb. The girl from DD2s old primary school class who makes the journey has an older sister at WGGS. It is worth thinking about GCSEs and A-Levels. The added stress of a long unpredictable journey shouldn't be underestimated. DS was under 2 miles from his school and could come home between exams. A friend who was travelling from Ealing I think completely missed one of his GCSEs because of a nightmare on the tube. An accident on the MI or A5 which happen frequently could mean a missed exams and a lot of stress travelling to HBS. Also both my girls at WGGS do tons of clubs, concerts etc. All those extra curricular activities become impossible with a long commute too. One last point the range of subjects offered for GCSE and A-Level is narrower at HBS.

There was a serious allegation that one of the coach companies - which I will not name - employed drivers without DBS checks. As it's organised by parents with nothing to do with the school, I would ask a LOT of questions before using it.

HBS is a great school partly because the girls who go are very clever and partly because their parents push them hard. You're in Watford but their friends could be in Hounslow or Surrey. Is that what you want for your child's formative teenage years?

Air Fenella is what you were thinking of
