Colston Girls' School - any luck with appeals or waiting list?

Hello.

We are desperate to get our daughter into Colstons. I wont bore you with detail of the many reasons why, but in short - their strong record with dyslexia, single sex school, forthcoming move into centre of Bristol (we currently live on the outskirts).

She is currently number 10 on the outer area waiting list. Assuming that is too far down the line to get one of the few available second round places, I am submitting an appeal.

Has anyone had experience of either the waiting list, or appeals at this school?

Thank you!

I am not sure that there has ever been a successful Cgs appeal. See if the stats are available.

Oh Christ - never! I will see if I can find stats. Thanks for your help.

Bristol LEA put lots of information on their website about oversubscribed schools and number of places allocated in the "second" round etc.
It is a very popular school with complicated waiting list arrangements. It is likely that moving from the outer area to the inner one would affect your place on the waiting list, but the timing may not be a good fit.
After the second round, the chances of a waiting list place coming up is very slim. I do know families who went on the waiting list for Y7 and were still on the list at the end of Y11. (Sixth form applications follow a different system).
However it could be that in the current situation, some families may be more reluctant for their dds to travel to an out of area school, so this year could be an exception and there may be more movement on the waiting list(s).
There are admissions experts on here that may be able to help with appeals and check the waiting list criteria for this school.
The reasons you have listed above are unlikely to be strong enough to win an appeal but there may be others that you wouldn't want to make public that would be better.
I do know families who have been offered waiting list places at Cotham School and Redland Green school which you may live in catchment for at your new address.

Hi would anyone be available to speak to me privately / informally about admissions to Colston Girls or Dolphin school? Would love to speak to someone who works in admissions for either of these schools or with experience of it. Flowers
