OFSTED inspection over a year overdue...

My child's school was last inspected February 2016 - it's been well over 3 years, what's taking them so long?? It's not an outstanding school, it was rated "Needs improvement" last time, so it's definitely not exempt. Is this normal?

Honestly, it’s not ofsted you need to talk to. It’s the governors. School gets inadequate = governors need to fix it. You might as well just go straight to them.

They are definitely due back. There is some incorrect information on this thread though.

If you are an academy and get inadequate you can be removed from the academy trust and rebrokered. In practice this doesn't always happen.

As a parent if you are unhappy you need to complain. Follow the schools complaints procedure. It will be on the website. If you don't complain then when Ofsted come in don't be surprised if they don't pick up on certain aspects you are not happy with.

Ultimately if you are really unhappy move your child out of the school. ( I know in practice that isn't easy)

For everyone saying complain to governor's - in an academy governors often have a very different role to within a LA school. It all depends on the trust's scheme of delegation which should be available on the website.
