I need a hand hold. My child has been excluded from school due to something inappropriate on social media. I'm distraught.

If the exclusion is permanent then your DC should be removed from the school roll.

Schools can exclude for up to 45 days under fixed term arrangements.

If DC is remaining on roll then I would be wondering if they're looking at long term alternative provision where she is still educated, albeit off site, but is still able to sit her GCSEs at school. In which case it's not really a permanent exclusion (even if the day to day reality looks as such with her not being in school etc). I've known that happen where something serious has happened in y11 and the school have had to balance the need to manage the school whilst not wanting to hinder a student's future over a one off serious incident. The student has been registered as being "educated off site" and it meant they didn't have a permanent exclusion on their record.

If you've not got anything in writing from the school yet, do push for it so you can get proper advice.

This could easily happen to any of our kids. Inherently most of them age not racist but they get so carried away with their thinking and expressing on SM particularly.
It's so sad that a second if ignorance has such far reaching consequences.

You sound like a lovely mum wanting to do the best for her. Look after yourself and I hope you are able to make the best of a dreadful situation.
Like one of the pp said this doesn't need to define her life ( even though at this moment it is hard to believe that probably)
