Grey Coats Hospital School Sixth Form

I was wondering if anybody had any experience of the sixth form at Greycoat Hospital school in Pimlico?

My daughter didn't get the grades to continue at her current school so we are considering moving her there.

One thing that is concerning me about the school though is that only 85% of pupils there complete their A-level course. This is much lower than any other school that we've looked at. I was wondering if they force the weaker kids out to keep results high? Or is it because of the area that it is in?

I would be very interested to hear about anybody's experience with this school.

Thank you!

My son just finished Sixth Form at GCH.
I didn't really have much to do with the school, other than a few patents' evenings.
I think in general it's a very good school.

However, my son was unhappy there. But that's mainly to do with the fact that there were very few boys in Sixth Form. I think quite a few of the boys also left during Sixth Form.
And I think - despite him being very confident - he was sometimes intimidated by the girls' confidence.
So if I had a girl, I would see that as a positive.

I didn't have any direct experience with this, but I have been told that pupils who join for Sixth Form are being repeatedly referred to as externals - not sure if this is standard but it feels a bit like it's "second class".

However, academically, he certainly was pushed and supported and did very well in his A Levels and in terms of teachings it was very good.

My younger son did have an offer to join for Sixth Form, but we decided against sending him there.
Partly because of our elder son's experience.
Partly because he would have been in the same year as Michael Gove's daughter. Which totally put us off.

The school has absolutely fantastic results with superb teachers. It competes with some of the more successful private schools in London. Is is a cofe school and places are awarded to regular church goers. It’s A-Level results this year are again outstanding! Grin

A very belated THANK YOU for your comments. We decided to go for Grey Coats and so far my daughter is loving it and we're really pleased with everything we've heard from the head of sixth form, from fellow parents and on hereSmile
