Progress 8 score

Looking at secondary schools in an area we are thinking of moving to & I'm slightly baffled by progress 8 scores.

Would 0.09 be a good one?

What's more interesting I think is to follow the link for more details, where they split the progress8 score for low, medium and high prior attainment. Two schools with broadly the same progress8 score can be very different there. In my area there's one which has brilliant progress results for low-prior-attainment (ie getting kids with terrible y6 SATS scores to achieve 5Cs (or 5s) at GCSE) but terrible in the high prior-attainment category (ie they let those with excellent y6 SATs scores coast comfortably to a B/6). There's another where those situations are reversed and as the intake of both schools is fairly mixed, the highs and lows cancel out to give both a fairly average score. Which to choose for your child will depend on the individual child.

That's good that you have experience of how the school will respond.
