Can you end up with two offers?

Hi
My son didn’t get his first or second choice school. Went on both waiting lists and today he has been offered the second choice. Is it possible he could still be offered first? Do I have to accept or decline this send place offer first?
I am so so confused. We would be happy with the second choice but still holding out hope for first.. thank you!

As far as I understand, yes you should accept the second choice but you will remain on the waiting list for the first choice until wait lists are disbanded (December). So you may still be offered your first choice if you fit the criteria and their waiting list moves.

Accepting the offer from your second choice has no bearing on whether you get offered your first choice so definitely accept it as you will stay on the list for your top choice.

Cheshire East are usually pretty good on waiting lists etc but having accepted the 2nd preference school I would then reconfirm in writing with the admission office that you are still wishing to remain on the waiting list for the first preference school.

Our situation was slightly different in that we live on the border and ds was offered a school in Staffordshire but on the waiting list for one in Cheshire East and we did remain on the list (finally offered a place at October half term but we declined it).

The majority of schools in Cheshire East are pretty good (as compared to here in Staffs) so I would definately accept the 2nd choice but remain on the list for the first . You may find you prefer the second though in the end.
