Cats score for Sevenoaks School

Does anyone know roughly what a average cats score would be good enough to get into Sevenoaks School. I know it would depend on the entrance exam and interview too. Thank you

I'd say 121 mean minimum

I would have thought whatever score would get you a comfortable 11+ grammar pass without intensive tutoring, so probably 120s and above. And probably not too much of a spiky profile given the need to continue maths, English, language and science to 18 with the IB.

Although Sevenoaks is academic, it's not a 'top tier' school so I would say 120+ would be fine. We know several children that were made offers that didn't pass for the state grammars.

Hi Lolly

I would say the entrance exams are very different to CAT testing and 11+ . My tip would be to use the past papers as much as you can and also have a chat to the admissions team. As you suggest, the other assessment day activities (and also the reference from current school) carry real weight for this school.

Not a top tier school 😂😂😂

I know kids this year who got the marks for super selective grammars but didn’t get in on the first round of sevenoaks. So I’d say mid-high 130s cats at least!

Yes... and IME plenty of DCs that were also awarded Kent SS Grammar places decide to go to Sevenoaks.

Thank you for your advice everyone. She got a score of 125 in her cats scores but apparently they are tested again in the beginning of year 6. According to the headmistress as long as her cats score increases when they test her again she's in with a good chance. I worry because she's only new to the British education system and she's not familiar with it. We have gone through some of the test papers together - she needs to get her head around expectations eg, doing workings out nearly etc and she also needs to come to grips with the English paper - none of which she is used to.
Do you think the extra curricular activities help? She's studying music (violin) at the moment, plays in the school orchestra and represents school in running. She's learning French at school (compulsory) but mandarin outside of school. She's keen to continue these but I don't think we should if it imposes on study and relax time, if that makes sense.
And also, how fierce is the competition please? Tia

I heard St Paul's Girls is about 130 and CLSG is about 125+. So she seems to be on track from that perspective for Sevenoaks. Entrance exams and interview(s) are definitely more important.
