Sorry if this has been done to death but I can't find the info I'm looking for. Does anyone have any experience of these entrance exams? There are no past papers available on the site so I don't have a clue how to prepare her. Can anyone help? I have looked at the eleven plus site which recommends some books but no actual past papers?

My daughter sat them this year. There are no past papers; the school makes their own papers and do not release past papers. The format this year, as I think has been a while now, was multiple choice English and Maths in the first stage, then non-multiple choice comprehension, creative writing and maths in the second stage.

We bought several different books (a mix of tests and workbooks) for maths only as this was her weaker area - Bond, Letts, CGP and possibly others. The Bonds stuff seemed a bit easier than other books and the tests were pretty hard. I focused on working through the CGP study guide to see which areas of maths DD was ok with and practising the areas she was wobbly in and then to try to build up speed.

Try and get hold of a maths answer sheet, it is marked by computer so is like filling in a lottery ticket. DD hadn't practised and took her a while to get the hang of it, so definitely try and get one.

also read the week junior - or similar, dd had quite a few general knowledge questions on the English eg who is the MP for Kingston (as if she would know that...)
