For 11+ entry. Which would you choose and why?

Think it also depends on your location? They do have similar ethos though

motherforceawakens · 06/12/2018 10:49

Thanks Missflippy. We're pretty much equidistant to both.

Of the two I only know King Alfred's - friends' DC are there and they love it.

If you're planning to drive to school every day though, the journey into London would surely be much longer/more traffic-jammed than one out to Letchworth?

motherforceawakens · 06/12/2018 13:48

No, DC will be able to get public transport. We live in North London. TFL tells me both journeys will take about an hour (10 mins more for St Chris).

Thanks Zinnia, glad to hear your friends's dc are happy there.

I only know King Alfred - as a current parent - and I recommend it very highly. The kids are happy and allowed to be kids. Friendly, warm, non-competitive feel, and most still try to do their best academically. For an academically non-selective school the GCSE results are also good. Class size of 16-17 is great. The (few) new kids in year 7 are soon well integrated.

My child was absolutely desperate to go there, after having visited a bunch of schools (state and private), and loved the assessment day. Now thriving, I hope and pray that this positive attitude and high level of energy and effort will not fade away in the coming years...

Happy to say a lot more by PM.
