GCSE music exam boards

Reposting from chat, hoping for some knowledge people.

Does anyone know much about the different syllabi (syllabus'?) for music?

DS is doing OCR, but I mistakenly got him the Edexcel revision notes.
Will there be much difference?
Is it worth me shelling out another£15 for the correct one, or will they be almost identical?
Thanks

Sorry but they are rather different. I don't now teach either Edexcel or OCR (did both on the last syllabus). Edexcel has a number of set works that the students are meant to know in detail. OCR has a couple.

A generic listening guide is fine but if you want the specific information, I think you should get the correct guide. Sorry. I now teach Eduqas - it's brilliant and the support is second to none.

The boards are completely different I’m afraid, so other than some general theory information it won’t be relevant to the exam paper.

Oh dear, I suspected that would be the answer. I'll have to get the correct one then. Thanks

They are very different. Dd did AQA & that is very different to Edexel. AQA has two set works studied in detail, Edexel has several themed ones & OCR has Areas of Study eg the concerto through time but no actual Set Works

I've ordered the correct one

Does anyone want to buy an unused Edexcel music revision book? ;)
