GSCE OPTIONS HISTORY OR LATIN

This had been sorted but then he had a wobble. Yr9 bright DS.
He's got to do triple science and English Maths etc
options:
RS
Music
French
Latin/History

I think he should do Latin as he's been singing in Latin since age 5 and knows it pretty well. He is really really unsure but probably leaning more to History.
WWYD?

Thank you for any advice u can offer!!

Such incredible replies. i am re-reading them all now.
Thank you.

He has done the common entrance which i do think helps with GCSE, it's not as much of a shock, i think.
His recent exams he scored more highly in Latin but he did very little work.

Both teachers feel he'll do well and happy for him to continue, i think he is going for History.

Hadn't thoguth about dropping French as he is good at it.

A'Levels he'll probably do Music, French and ?

Thank you so much for your wonderful replies.

My daughter has just finished a music degree and did exactly the same GCSEs that yours is considering (both Latin and history, but only did short course RS). Latin (which she did to AS) and history go well with music, but so do lots of subjects, so I would say it probably doesn't much matter.

If you have to drop one of the two I'd probably drop Latin on the grounds that he will continue to be exposed to it through his singing.

Thanks very much everyone. I chatted to him and his teachers about what would be best and he's decided on History (and French, RS & Music).
I think you're right fifth he will continue to be exposed to Latin and if he does end up doing English at uni he'll have that background anyway.

You've all been incredibly interesting and helpful.
Have a wonderful day and thanks again xxx
