You'll need to be a very able student, not make any silly mistakes and have the questions go your way, i.e. topics you are particularly good at or ones you revised recently.

Well, we'll see in August. DS is very able (at maths), always makes silly mistakes and hasn't done any revision for maths, apart from what he did in class and the handful of past papers the teacher gave him as homework over the Easter holidays.
DH and I tried to get him to revise maths yesterday, but he refused point blank. He eventually offered a compromise yesterday that if today had any challenging questions, then he'd revise for paper 3. But it didn't.

Glad your DH is feeling better Alexander. So scary for you all.

English and history for DS tomorrow. Have just been testing him on some of the Elizabeth bit and have already forgotten it! Hope he does better!

hmcAsWas · 07/06/2018 21:37

hmmwhatatodo - not ignoring you, but I think there are only one or two posters on this thread where their dc are doing edexcel foundation maths. Hopefully they will post soon

hmcAsWas · 07/06/2018 21:38

Alexander - you sound a bit happier now you've seen your dh. Good job that you are there to ensure that he doesn't do too much

hmmwhatatodo · 07/06/2018 21:44

Thank you hmc, I did feel like I’d walked into another dimension when I started reading some of the posts on this thread. Is there a thread for parents of children who don’t achieve grade 8 and 9 without much revision Grin ?!

mmzz · 07/06/2018 21:50

This thread, hmmwhatatodo! It just depends on the poster and the subject. If you'd like to talk about English Lit, then I can offer you a report if lots and lots of hours of study, followed by a horrible time in the exam and we've no idea what DS will get 10 weeks today, but it's not going to be good.

Waiting for scan appt now. Possibly Monday or Tuesday.

Dd is hoping for a 7 in maths but she’d be happy with a 6.

TheThirdOfHerName · 07/06/2018 21:54

Good luck to everyone's DCs (and DGCs) for English Language tomorrow.

mmzz · 07/06/2018 21:58

ALexanderHamilton it's good news that he's fit enough to not be kept in, and felt well enough to attempt some dishes! I hope things continue to improve rapidly.
Are you planning to stay for the weekend, until your DH can drive again and has had the scan results?
I can't imagine how you must have felt taking that call this morning. You have done very well staying so calm and clear headed. I'm sure I'd have fallen to pieces (which would be useless to everyone).

hi hmmwhatatodo come and join us. I think you ll find all sorts on this thread including my DS who Is working really hard to get some subjects up to fours.

AlexanderHamilton · 07/06/2018 22:14

WE are all coming back sat night. Next week we will play by ear. My parents may go out there for a few days (it’s their caravan & they’ve been going out most weekends) & drive Dd to school (Ds has a dance exam on Monday at home).

I am a coping type of person. But I have to admit not much work got done this morning. Dh’s colleagues have been really good too & a few have given him their phone numbers so he can call them if he or Dd needs them.

nicky2512 · 07/06/2018 22:21

Looks like I am the only one in Northern Ireland!! We have Biology unit 1 and History 2 (Cold War) tomorrow. After that DD only has 2 exams to go. One next week and one the week after. This week has been awful so delighted that the end is in sight,

mmzz · 07/06/2018 22:22

When is your DD's last exam, AH? You ave quite a theatrical family it seems!

Tomorrow is the mega exam day for DS: English language AQA followed by History AQA. Anyone with writing difficulties is really struggle with having both in the same day.

OP posts:
Nettleskeins · 07/06/2018 22:46

ds2 is scribed for both. It will help a lot. As you say mmzz it is an exhausting schedule. He needs to do well (6 in both at least)
we've just been doing practise persuasive writing, verbally. trying to stop ds being too bombastic, as he has a tendency to order people around from the first paragraph Grin

Cblue · 07/06/2018 22:48

Hmmwhatatodo - and don't forget the subjects our DC abandoned completely in Yrs 9 &10!! If a MFL was still being taken by DD I would be rooting for a level 2 Grin
It's hard to know what to expect (especially when I don't understand half the papers anyway!)
How many exams have you got left?

calzone · 07/06/2018 22:55

Mmzz ds thinks his hand will actually drop off as he has English and History too 🙈🙈

Stupid exam board.

mmzz · 07/06/2018 22:55

Cblue If either of my dysgraphic DS's had to do anything from DT or Art, I think they'd be showing exactly how to go about getting a U. Thank God they get to drop stuff before it gets serious!

OP posts:
calzone · 07/06/2018 22:56

Cblue we have 13 exams left.😭😭😭

He is still enjoying the little treat every night. 😀😀

Cblue · 07/06/2018 23:00

Mmzz yep my DDs really clumsy (not allowed to sit down for chemistry practicals etc) so I reckon she would make a great dentist

brainmelt · 07/06/2018 23:03

alex news sound very positive!
No exams tomorrow here, yay. Then bio, chem and phys papers 2 next week exactly as sandy. He's opted out of admaths which means next Friday afternoon we're done!!! (Except he has grade 6 theory on Saturday...). So no celebrations till Saturday night.
Oh the end is near...
Good luck tomorrow with English and History.

mmzz · 07/06/2018 23:04

Or a surgeon. DS2 (age 14) still can't use a ruler to join two dots without going too far or stopping short. Diversity and all that is great (I give you DS's dyslexic primary teacher), but I really wouldn't wish either of my sons on anyone in an operating theatre!

OP posts:
AlexanderHamilton · 07/06/2018 23:04

Dd isvery glad she didn’t do history. All get history taking friends are panicking.

Cblue · 07/06/2018 23:05

Calzone - Eng Lang tomorrow then 1 hr chemistry on Wednesday.

Then done done done done done. WineWineWineWineWineWine

brainmelt · 07/06/2018 23:06
