Non-see through white blouses for 12 year old

We are struggling to find white cotton school shirts/blouses that aren’t ‘see thru’ for my 12 yo. She doesn’t want her crop top or bra showing through as much as they do. Currently, she is keeping her blazer on or wearing a t-shirt under her blouse but she is going to roast in the warmer weather (even thought the coolly dressed blazer police probably won’t announce blazers can be removed until 23rd July!).

Has anyone found some cotton blouses that aren’t quite so thin/revealing?

Thank you

They are all pretty flimsy TBH. Best route is flesh coloured bras.

Thank you Zodlebud!

Agreed! Skin tone bras are the right thing under any white top.

TeenTimesTwo · 03/05/2018 13:04

Yup skin tone bras.
Available from M&S teen angel range. (I am sure elsewhere too).

Thank you all for answers. Really helpful.

Uniqlo.

Flangey · 03/05/2018 18:12

Does anyone know of any crop tops in skin tone?

helloflamingogo · 03/05/2018 18:14

Or just wear a cheap vest not a tshirt under it, I did this at school (not too many years ago) and it was fine.

Shmithecat · 03/05/2018 18:19

Flangey, Sloggi do crop top bras like this.

Sainsbury's do flesh coloured crop tops I think.

helloflamingogo · 03/05/2018 18:25

Out if interest (not being a GF, I promise) do “flesh” coloured bras etc only come in one shade? The ones that come up would have been more noticeable on me than a white bra when I was at school.

JenaSpeikus · 03/05/2018 18:27

You might want to try the boys section for button downs. They usually have heavier Oxford cloth shirts there.

JenaSpeikus · 03/05/2018 18:29

@Flangey

Dance shops have flesh colored camis. Dancers wear them when they have a lot of quick costume changes in a show.

mither · 03/05/2018 18:29

£1.80 scrappy vest tops from primary.

mither · 03/05/2018 18:30

*strappy although tbf it is PRIMARK!!

maz99 · 03/05/2018 18:34

M&S shirts aren’t see through. Ok

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/05/2018 19:14

H&M do really cheap and very thin white vest tops with spaghetti straps, which are about the lightest weight ones we’ve found.

My DD’s school has made it mandatory to ensure that your underwear is not visible through your shirt- now, I can understand saying no patterns or black bras etc, but a white, non padded, M&S bra??

TheSecondOfHerName · 03/05/2018 19:23

Helloflamingogo

I've also noticed this. DD is a pale pinky-white. Nearly all her friends are Asian. None of them have skin that matches 'nude' or 'flesh' colour underwear. Luckily their school shirts aren't white.

Justgivemesomepeace · 03/05/2018 19:25

My dd will only wear school shirts from m&s for this reason. I get the ultimate non iron ones so I don't have to iron them either.

RazzleDazzle3 · 03/05/2018 19:27

We’ve brought the primark vest tops for this reason this year. I’ve tried shirts from John Lewis, M&s, tesco, Asda and the school shop ones were the worst. It’s a real pain.

Neighbours dd has blue shirts and that’s much better.

GinAndTonicAndASliceOfLemon · 03/05/2018 19:31

I would suggest a flesh coloured camisole or vest top over her bra. I do this actually with white blouses

Zodlebud · 03/05/2018 21:43

M&S have t-shirt bras in a range of three skin tones, not just the pale flesh colour.

aroomofonesown · 03/05/2018 22:05

Had same experience as Binky. In particular couldn't believe how see-through John Lewis school shirts were. I found that the best quality white school shirts are made by Banner and these can be found on-line. Decent quality cotton material. Hope that helps.

Flangey · 04/05/2018 07:16

Thanks for the ideas about flesh-coloured crops. I need something for a tiny 9 year old, no support required. And in cotton. And cheap enough to have loads in the drawer - just like the white cotton ones she has now.

BinkyBuntyFintyCunty · 04/05/2018 09:03

Thank you everyone for great tips!
