Advice on using secondary appeal service

Would anyone recommend using a lawyer or appeals service to help a family through a secondary appeal? We’ve been offered our 3rd choice but catchment school (which has been Requiring improvement’ for as long as ofsted can remember and last year was awarded the Inadequate status... preference school is our nearest but just over the border in a neighbouring LA. There are going to be a lot of appeals from what I gather as this is a big shock to many round here! Tia

As someone who sits on appeals panels, I would say you absolutely don't need one and they can be detrimental to your case as, lawyers in particular, often don't understand/know admissions regulations and treat the panel as if it were a court of law. You'll get just as good advice here for free!
