Just out of curiousity, how much discount do teachers get on school fees in independent schools?

Very hard to generalise. Can be from 0% to 100%.

50% near us.

I've taught in two. One was 50% and the other was v expensive so staff discounts were 80%.

It varies from school to school, but for tax reasons can't generally be more than 85%.The last school DH worked at gave 60% discount, the one before that 40%.

Around 50%. Often reduced pro rata if you work part time (so if FT discount was 50% and you worked 3 days you would get 30%)

At a school D'S attended the discount was 50% but also subject to being up to a maximum of 50% of salary.

E.g.. If fees were £20k

If you earned 20k+ discount is 50% ie 10k

If you earned £15k discount capped at half salary or 7.5k

30 - 50% at the schools I've worked in / friends have worked in. Fees about 15k to 20k pa.

At DD’s School it’s 50%
