Secondary Schools in York

We are moving to York in July and are currently looking at secondary schools for DS11 - he will be going into Year 7 in September. I have been looking at Archbishop Holgate's School, Fulford School and Huntington School. I would welcome any information and opinions on these. Many thanks in advance.

Fulford and Huntington will be oversubscribed, Archbishops probably will be too. You might be lucky with movement on the waiting lists but you might want to look further afield too

We are buying a house in York too. Our boy is very small, but I looked into schools and Millthorpe supposed to be second best after Fulford.

I think Manor probably has a better reputation than Millthorpe (and definitely newer buildings!). Most secondary schools in York are good or outstanding Ofsted-wise, York High and Vale of York are less good.
