Maths Teachers - advice on fun resources for Yr7 please?

DD1 is in Yr7. Top set maths. Has always loved the subject. Did v well in SATs.

Her current teacher is idiosyncratic. Works from a text book. If asked for any explanations (of what is being covered or if someone has got an answer wrong in homework/test) he will just say "You should have been listening".

DD is doing OK. 85-90% in class tests. But she is a bit despondent that she is no longer enjoying the subject. We have offered to get her a tutor. Not to achieve more - just to inject some fun back into it. She has said she would just prefer to do some fun stuff with me and DH at home for now. Just to keep the enjoyment in the subject.

Would anyone be able to recommend a good Yr7 maths resource from which we could "hook" any home-based activities on please? We don't necessarily want to cover the whole curriculum with her. Or trawl page-by-page through the book. But to dip in and out of. it will also refresh my very rusty brain In addition something written may just help with any bits she is either really enjoying or slightly struggling. DH says we should just go with the flow but I would prefer something text-book/work-book based to use as a core. Something current so we use the same language etc as she will get in class.

Any suggestions gratefully received. Flowers

The Number Devil for sparking imagination.

Also get a decent compass and learn to use it well.
