My DD has a letter D next to her grade 8 in Eng Lang with AQA. It is under the column header of End1. does anyone know what that means?

Yowser Your experience is similar to mine a couple of years ago... Didn't do much work in the lower sixth, and it was only after he got his university offer that he actually seemed to make the connection between work and grades, as he had a goal to work towards. I think this is quite common. And my nagging made no difference, until he decided to put the work in himself.

Luckily, he had great teachers, which meant he had a strong foundation to work from, and his late conversion to hard work wasn't in vain. Smile I was a hardworking swot, and found it really difficult to watch him faffing around surfing, though.

MsHarry · 25/08/2017 14:48

Oh that's good, thanks tiggy just read that on AQA but hasn't been pointed out to us by school. Not very impressed with how this has been handled by them.

MsHarry · 25/08/2017 14:58

Can't find the AQA grade boundaries for eng lang . I found them earlier now they don't seem to be anywhere. Anyone got them on a handy link?

DiscoDiva70 · 25/08/2017 15:02

My ds and I are really pleased with his results with a mixture of A's, B's + 1c.
I would also like to ask what it means that there is the letter P under the End1 column alongside his Eng Lang grade 7. Does anyone know?

Thanks but that's just a notional guide and not the actual numbers for each grade. That's all I can find too.

That is the correct document. The notional guide just means in a linear multi component exam, each component is not graded separately.

TheFallenMadonna · 25/08/2017 15:10

Unlike in a modular qualification.

MsHarry · 25/08/2017 15:11

But earlier I found the grade boundaries for a 9, 8 and 7 etc. I think it was 60ish out of 80 to get a 9 but can't find it anywhere.

MsHarry · 25/08/2017 15:12

It was released at 8am yesterday. Now it's gone!

English language is out of 160. The grade boundaries are on the link. Individual components only have notional grade boundaries (out of 80) because it is a linear qualification. You have to take all components.

Yes, DD's friend had an 'M' next to hers, so I guess that's a merit.

booellesmum · 25/08/2017 15:24

We asked for history remark yesterday as 3 ums off next grade. Result back this morning - no change.
I'm glad we went for it as at least she knows now.
Just thought I'd let everyone know seems to be fast turnaround. (Yesterday we were told could be up to 20 days)
