In ours, it's rare a child will get a scribe. Access to a laptop is more usual as having a scribe involves the child spelling out words, specifying punctuation etc so they're not seen as having an advantage when they have a scribe.

I scribe for students in GCSEs (have done for many years) if you have any questions.

My DS had a scribe for all of his GCSEs, but he was at a specialist dyslexia school where approx half of the intake (no only 12 in his year) needed scribes. It takes a lot of practice to work with a scribe effectively, but I think it also has to be the normal way of working (for exams) for the student anyway to be allowed.

Has he/she previously used a scribe. If not there is a technique in that they will need to say Capital Letter, full stop etc and spell out words such as Battle names and scientific terms.

Are you genuinely interested because you have a child needing one or are you a journo looking for a story (only asked because of user name?)
