Year 7/8 Physics and Chemistry

Ds1 has just finished year 7.

All is well in his studies apart from physics and chemistry.

Can anyone recommend some books (including answer books) for home study, please? I've looked on Amazon and the ones that pop up don't have answer books.

I'd be grateful for recommendations.

TIA.

I would suggest looking at the BBC Bitesize pages for his appropriate age. There are pages to read followed by questions.

I would also suggest bbc bitesize. Different schools are variable in the content they teach in year 7. Most textbooks aren't specific to a school's science scheme of work. What topics in particular have been problematic?

If you look some of the books 'includes answers' weren't in the front'

Some older copies have a separate answer book

Look at letts - CPC - and WHSmiths do their own

CPC

IGSSC might have year 8 books I haven't looked

BBC Bitesize. Also take a little time to go through the new physics and chemistry text books with DS1 in the autumn. The subjects will be straight forward and a bit of extra time with you at home will help bring him up to speed. The problem is often that teachers do not have time for questions in class and some children get left behind a little. How often do you hear a child complaining that teachers said they would take questions at the end of the class only to run out of time and leave no time for children's questions. Most of the science books have answers on the web through various helpful websites.

You can check WHSMITH, they have many books for KS3 Science. Please let me know if you would like a breakdown of year 7-8 topics as I am a science teacher and may be able to help.

Getahead, they will vary from school to school since the removal of the NC, we certainly have taken that opportunity in my school ( also science tea her)

Hi

Try this. My Y7 son had weaknesses. This bite size PDF does not need a separate book. It comes with answers and has improved my son

Thank you. I've printed it off and we are going to work through it. So useful. Thank you.
