Year 9 - unusual to get no homework

Hi,

My dd is in year 9 and she is lucky if she gets one hour per week in total. Most weeks she has none. I'm sure i was doing an hour a night at least at her stage.

Not unusual with my sons. But would definitely be unusual for my DD - if you get my drift

Dd ( yr9) usually gets about 2 pieces a night

Is she getting short bits of homework that she does at school? I found with DS1 that homework was often to finish off something they had been doing in class and he'd finished it, or it was something he could do quickly so he did it at break or lunchtime. It was only the slightly more complicated stuff that came home in year 9.

My son is also year 9 and very rarely gets any!

My year 9 son, appears to be the only child in the school with none, strangely his sister who was in year 9 last year got homeworkHmm

There's a school local to me that has made homework 'optional'!
At this time of year the homework may just have been 'revise' for end of year exams. Does DC have a homework diary? I encourage my form (Year 8) to write none set in if that really is the case as it's easier to keep an eye on. If it's been very little all year I might check with the form tutor that this is really the case.

I found that the school ramped up the homework in year 9. She is going back to year 13 tomorrow and gets several hours of homework every day.

DD has had loads throughout y9, sometimes more than her elder sister doing her GCSEs.

DD had stacks earlier in the year, but it has tapered off now because they are meant to be revising for end of year exams. (which DD is)
