Because we need a new thread now that things are really hotting up!

Really, really nervous for ds today. The expectations for History seem ridiculously high. So much knowledge, so much analysis and just the quantity of writing required!

pointythings · 05/06/2017 08:08

Depending on the period that may well be right. The Netherlands in its current form is quite a recent entity.

History here too today.

Good luck today to anyone with an exam!

Dd has nothing til English tomorrow. I'm trying to tone down her over confidence in that one. Her English teacher hasn't helped by telling her she's the best creative writing student he's ever seen - actually, her Spag lets her down and she needs to proof read but doesn't always Hmm - she's great at the creativity bit and the similes and metaphors and adverbs and pacing but the mechanics leave something to be desired!

Hope they're all holding up well. The end is in sight.

Laniakea · 05/06/2017 09:02

this is the exam dd is worried about more than all others (AQA History B). She's seriously wobbly about the last module.

I think she's looking forward to tomorrow though - she enjoys the Eng lang exams (???) and will be so relieved to have human geography done (absolutely hates it). Hopefully she'll get back in her stride for revising more effectively now she's back (needs to do lots of biol & maths), half term was not great for her.

I think she's neglected the final week subjects which isn't great as they are all hard ones (history 2, chemistry & physics as well maths & Eng). I think I might be forced to take up residence in her room Wink

Fleurdelise · 05/06/2017 09:04

Good luck to those dcs sitting exams today, DS has an exam free day today.

BertrandRussell · 05/06/2017 09:05

"this is the exam dd is worried about more than all others"

Ds too. He needs an A but really wants an A*....

Madhairday · 05/06/2017 09:31

Good luck Laniakea to your dd and Bert to your ds for history today.

Laniakea · 05/06/2017 10:13

thank you :)

HappyMum543 · 05/06/2017 10:58

Anyone any idea how did the dc history exam go? Mine's got English language session till 2 so I won't know yet?

PeskyRat · 05/06/2017 11:06

Son sat Edexcel History this morning. He said most of the paper was "beautiful" (!!) BUT he ran out of time on the last question, said he had lots more points he wanted to make.

RaskolnikovsGarret · 05/06/2017 11:08

Edexcel History went fine today. One blip where she mistakenly wrote about Hungary, then saw her error and switched to Czechoslovakia, but otherwise ok. Y9 DD2 on the other hand says she completely messed up her end of year exam history paper, but that is obv not a problem. Another one down for DD1, which is a relief.

BertrandRussell · 05/06/2017 11:17

OCR History was a "good paper" too. Twitter seems to agree.

readyforsunshine · 05/06/2017 12:02

History went well here too. Hurray! Some positivity!

Laniakea · 05/06/2017 12:15

aqa history B - all very happy with the paper. DD was writing up until the last moment & thinks she's lost spag marks for sure but overall fine! Phew!

(I think she made mistake with one of her facts - by a factor of 1000! - but she disagrees (I'm right Wink ) ... sure it isn't that important in the grand scheme)

Ontopofthesunset · 05/06/2017 12:16

DS reports history went well (Edexcel GCSE) and he answered the Vietnam question. He has lots of work to do on the British paper though, but has over a week to memorise all the notes he's taken.

Cromwell1536 · 05/06/2017 12:26

OCR here too - Germany 1918 - 45 as depth study, and Cold War. No word from offspring, so hoping his experience matches that of others on here today. Maybe I'll text him...

LittleHo · 05/06/2017 12:32

OCR History - really good exam according to ds.

Iamnotminterested · 05/06/2017 12:54

AQA history went 'Really well'.

Quadratilla · 05/06/2017 13:19

AQA History "as expected".

BigSandyBalls2015 · 05/06/2017 13:22

Text from DD after history .... "awful", it is her worst subject though

Cafeconleche · 05/06/2017 13:23

Edexcel History Medicine Through Time was 'good'. It's one of DS's favourite subjects and he wants to do it for A Level. Had a wobble during the exam when he started to double-think the long question, but going through his answer with him a while ago I think he got it spot on. He was really happy with the rest of the paper. Revising now for English language tomorrow. Exams every day this week - it's so full-on but, in a way, glad to be back in the saddle after the half-term break.

Danglingmod · 05/06/2017 13:25

Aqa spec b "really good" here...!

He needs a B; could get anything from C to A*.

Ontopofthesunset · 05/06/2017 13:26

Sorry, DS is doing OCR too, so the Germany Depth Study and the Cold War.

DD didn't sit history here so not sure which board. Feedback from friends, interestingly the one who is around a C/B grade says it was fine, but she has quite a lot of A/A* friends who are saying it was hard and one didn't finish it.
