CIE Eng Lit was " alright" apparently. 4 subjects down , 7 to go.

t875 · 26/05/2017 11:41

dd said English Lit went well, not as bad as she thought. She had revised the poem so she was ok with that. Phewww now for a nice break! Smile

PossomInAPearTree · 26/05/2017 11:42

Dds sixth form said she needed a 6 in maths to do geography.

I rang them up and pointed out she's doing foundation and can't get higher than a 5. That she's predicted an A* for geography and that most unis only seem to require a 4 in maths for a geography degree.

Suffice to say they've now said a 5 or even a 4 will be ok!

ifonly4 · 26/05/2017 11:44

t875, that's good for her. Don't suppose you know what the poem was?

Laniakea · 26/05/2017 11:49

it was 'ehhhh'

J&K was actually the worst bit - theme was 'people trying to help each other' which was nothing they'd studied. And she spent the last hour feeling like she was going to be sick because it was so hot. They had to keep their blazers & ties on. Sadistic arseholes.

BertrandRussell · 26/05/2017 11:51

AQA was Mother Any Distance according to Twitter. I do hope so-ds loves it..........

Cafeconleche · 26/05/2017 11:55

And the other poem was Bayonet Charge apparently (my DS had mother any distance and was happy)

Cafeconleche · 26/05/2017 11:55

AQA btw

Laniakea · 26/05/2017 12:00

dd had Belfast Confetti & chose War Photographer which she knows well so that bit was okay. Unseens were about cats & dd said she liked them Grin (their mock was unseens about snails so this was an improvement).

She managed to get something down for J&K but it was much harder than the first paper in her opinion.

NO more Eng Lit ever ... she's doing the happy dance and she's going to see the new Alien film with dh this evening.

10 down 13 to go!

JufusMum · 26/05/2017 12:00

Just had this text from DD after the aqa English Literature "It went well, had a horrid poem but turned it around so it was okay, animal farm I used loads of terminology, worded it well and used loads of Ao3".
Sounds way more positive than the crying mess I had on Monday!

Laniakea · 26/05/2017 12:01

(she's edexcel for english)

Fleurdelise · 26/05/2017 12:01

DS reported the English Lit exam WJEC went well. 11 exams done and he only finished 3 subjects Hmm

ifonly4 · 26/05/2017 12:02

Thanks for that Bertrand & Cafeconleche - phew, that's one DD revised, there were three she didn't do much on

LittleHo · 26/05/2017 12:31

Wjec English Lit went really well. Smile

Thank heavens for half term.

Dancergirl · 26/05/2017 12:38

Dd was fairly happy overall with English Lit. She was very happy with the Macbeth question, it was about Lady Macbeth which she was hoping for Smile The question said 'give two examples of......' she gave four and summarised them all at the end. I presume she won't get extra marks for 4 if the question said 2...?

First poetry question (comparison between seen and unseen) was ok. Second poetry question was hard but she thinks it was fairly broad and could have used one a wide selection of poems as long as you justified why.

Cafeconleche · 26/05/2017 12:42

Thank god Twitter #aqaenglish didn't exist in my day. It's bad enough knowing what your friends wrote (when you didn't) but to find out about what the rest of the country wrote ... ShockConfusedSad or SmileGrinWink. Having said that, some of the tweets are very, very funny

QueenofQuirkiness · 26/05/2017 13:01

DD has come home very happy about the English Lit exam, she did 'nightmares' in Never Let Me Go and compared Bayonet Charge to Exposure. Hoping for a good game grade, she seems really happy Grin

QueenofQuirkiness · 26/05/2017 13:01

Not a good game...a good grade

Dancergirl · 26/05/2017 13:13

Well done to all of them so far, they deserve a well earned break now Smile

ASDismynormality · 26/05/2017 13:21

DD was much happier with today's English exam. Am pleased as most others this week have been quite hard!

BertrandRussell · 26/05/2017 13:29

My ds's friend finds Lit Crit very difficult- he can't see the point of it. His mum sent him a text this morning saying "Embrace your inner wanker" Grin He just texted her to say "I think it might have worked!"

Decorhate · 26/05/2017 13:34

Ds disappointed with how he thinks he did in English Lit today. But relieved he never has to study it again!

LIZS · 26/05/2017 13:36

Did dd hear right that there was a mistake on the OCR paper re Romeo and Juliet?

Laniakea · 26/05/2017 13:41

www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-40059967

that's pretty bad!

Cromwell1536 · 26/05/2017 13:44

Cambridge International here, so this morning's was a kindly 45 minutes only, open text drama - View from the Bridge in this case. Haven't heard a word from son, except a text to say he's gone to a mate's. He'll fry in school uniform. He was extremely relaxed about it all, which I hope is the result of good preparation rather than complacency. He did tell his father last night that "I've managed to get As throughout in history with very little revision. It'll be fine." I would really, really prefer him not to test that hypothesis again this time. I'm hoping that part of this is just teasing us.
