Altrincham College of Arts / Wellington - any experience?

I wondered if anyone has any experience of Altrincham College or Arts? We are thinking about secondary for my son. It's our nearest school. My son is quite shy and sensitive and I wonder if he'll cope. Is it a nice environment?

Does anyone know if Wellington take strictly from distance only or do theyou have any other criteria (apart from siblings, looked after children etc)?

If Altrincham College of Arts is your local school, are you not also in the catchment for Wellington (I think they generally take 1.2/1.3 miles as the crow flies). The admission criteria for both is on the websites. I don't have children there but know lots of people who send their children to Wellington - no-one locally has opted for Altrincham College of Arts, I anticipate this is probably due to results.

My boy has prepared for 13+ year 9 entry as a transfer student.

my situation as at Jan 2023:
Altrincham college : waiting list number 5.
North Cestrian School : waiting list number 15.
Wellington school : waiting list open at Aug 2023

Can I seek for your view on Altrincham college and North Cestrian School . whether it worth holding the place in Altrincham college (once it confirmed ) and keep waiting list with North Cestrian School ? or prefer repeate year 9 at Sep2023 ?
