A Level subjects - too essay based?

Dd is in Year 11 and has to choose her A Level Choices by February.

We had a very informative meeting at school recently where pupils and parents attended talks on the subjects they are interested in.

Dd is thinking of English Literature, History, Government and Politics and Psychology.

I'm just a bit worried about the amount of essay writing involved in these subjects but there isn't really anything else she wants to do. She did consider Spanish briefly but isn't really a natural linguist and not too keen.

Dd is in yr 13 and is doing History, Eng Lit and Psychology plus an EPQ was completed in yr 12. Eng Lit and History have coursework element. There is lots of writing but she has coped well. She has been offered a place at Durham for Psychology as this became a passion. Given the choice she would have dropped History which was a favourite at GCSE.

ZOMBIE ALERT

The essays in Politics (it isn't called Gov and Pol any more) are not actually very long. DS does it and has never had to write what I wouold consider an essay! History and Enfglish Lit is a classic combination and , if they are lucky in terms of text choices and historical period overlap, they massively help each other out.

I think it's an excellent combo, although I wish schools would stop forcing students to do 4. An AS achieves nothing these days and many unis don't include them in offers.
