GCSE English language and Lit - anyone got surprisingly low grade?

dd got her GCSE results today- she did brilliantly but SHE is is really disappointed and in floods of tears Sad
Her main disappointment is her English language and English Lit - se was really expecting an A for both and has got As - yes I know this is still brilliant - BUT the marks for a couple of her papers were surprisingly low - she got a C in one paper, and B in 2 others. All her coursework has been A, her school assessments and past papers have all been A*. She worked really hard, and felt the exams went OK so is really shocked about the grades.
School have said all English marks have come back low and they are going to look into it. Obviously we are just telling her how brilliantly she has still done - but just wondering if anyone else has noticed a bit of an odd grade/mark for English (board was WJEC)
what are our options - can we ask for her scripts to be returned to school to see what happened? Any point asking for it to be remarked?
I'm so sad for her. She has done so well, but is still so disappointed in herself.

Hob if your dd is thinking of art degree she could consider an extended diploma instead of A level it is equivalent to 3 a levels but all art and is a good prep for art college degree level. Some places offer the diploma with 1 A level extra. It offers a more extensive art prep and portfolio building plus no need for foundation year.

Other way around. DS got A's for English x 2, when I was hoping for Cs.

Actually, at one point he was predicted A x 2 for the English, but that was before he got U's & D's etc. on the mocks.

OCR here. Predicted A for lang. Now a solid B. Wants to do medicine and this will severely damage his chances. Achieved all As/A otherwise. Im beyond angry. There should be an inquiry. Childrens life chances hang on grades which do not appear to be robust and marking which is inconsistent with pupils`prior performance in class and mock tests!

DD has been regarded as gifted and talented in English since junior school. Predicted solid A* in both, and got As. She knew she dropped the marks, and just said it was a 'funny paper' .

We should just get rid of GCSEs.
