Major disruption during a GCSE exam

DD is severely dyslexic so has a scribe for her exams. During the exam today, her scribe had to run out of the room to be sick. This left DD without a scribe. Anyone have any idea what is possible to compensate for this? She is absolutely distraught about it. I know special consideration can give up to 5% extra marks, but is this won't make enough difference

Have you tried to contact the exams officer this week, it's pretty likely that they will be inschool this week. It would be helpful to know what they've already recorded for the incident.

Yes I would maybe go up to school and see if anyone's around. If there's a caretaker, they usually leave a mobile number to call if school is open. You want reassurance this isn't going to happen again.

She wouldn't get disqualified.

If there was a reason not to put faith in the results of one paper and it wasn't the candidate's fault, then the most likely thing would be to use the other paper to base the grade on.

Worst case scenario, your DD will simply get the marks based on what she'd written, with no compensation for the disruption.

You can emphasise to your DD that this is all the scribe's doing not hers!! The exam board will understand this.

Not quite the same, but during dsis' s O Level Maths the person at the next desk stood up and was spectacularly sick, splattering dsis and her maths paper. Dsis (being dsis) got up and walked out. She failed O Level Maths. Being back in t'olden days, that was her tough luck!
