Year 7 exams, how much revision?

Just curious really. DS1 has year 7 exams in a few weeks, and tells me that they have been advised to do 8 hours per day on the three weekends leading up to them.

We had parent's evening for DS last night. His maths teacher asked him to do some revision over the next 2 weeks. His French teacher acknowledged that DS hates French, but suggested he works hard for next 2 weeks, only so that he is allocated a reasonably high set for next year for Spanish. DS already knows some Spanish and tends to answer in Soanish during French lessons.

I'm not planning on more than 1 hour a day in half term as we are away.

Blimey, I know DS has end of yr 7 exams after half term (grammar) but I am not aware he's planning any revision at all. I wonder if the school have told them to and he's keeping quiet.

The idea of sticking to usual timetable during half term is a joke right?!

DS1 takes his end of year exam seriously, as school will give prize to the students who has become the first in the exam.
Among he and his friends, some start to do revision well in advance, some like DS, wouldn't do much. I think it will base on DC's memory. Some DC don't need much revision, some will need lots.
