Mixed Independent Secondary Schools in Surrey (Richmond)

Hello all! I am new to the site so this is my first post.

Does anyone know any good (mixed) secondary Independent schools in the Surrey area. It needs to be easily accessible from Richmond by public transport or if they have a school bus that picks up from Richmond that would be excellent.

So far we have Latimer, Kingston Grammar and Ibstock Place School. However if anyone knows any others that are any good then that would be so helpful. Looking for academic schools but not too pushy!

Thank you!

Not sure about accessibility /coaches from Richmond but have a look at City of London Freemans in Ashtead.

Radnor House in Twickenham
Kew House
Claremont Fan Court in Esher, school bus i think.
CLFS i would say is a long way from Richmond

Emmanuel? St Benedict's ealing?

St George's in Weybridge. Train to Addlestone via Staines, total journey time ca 45 min I think. They have school buses but not sure if there is one from Richmond.

Hampton school, Ewell castle

Hampton is boys only, the girls are next door. Hampton Court House is mixed, I think.

Not putting forward a new one but experience of ibstock place. It’s really good, they have on site councillors. Teachers are lovely, really friendly. Daughter recently got all 9s in her GCSE’s there. It’s just across the park so she cycles in from Richmond and it takes next to no time. In the winter when the park is dark and closer to cars it’s a little trickier. Lots of kids live in richmond that go there though!

@Tortoise90 you're replying to your own question 😂

Ahahahah I saw it come up on my feed thought someone else was asking ahahaha! I have a newborn so the sleep deprivation is definitely taking its toll. To confirm (if it wasn’t already obvious) we went with ibstock place school in the end! And she loves it!! Definitely was the right choice! Haha there we go, my reply to myself can serve as an update for those who search ever. Img I’m an idiot!

@Tortoise90 this made me giggle! Very funny! Congrats on newborn and good to hear all is going well. I'm sure you're not the first to do this nor will you be the last! 😂

SwLondonmumof3 · 17/10/2023 10:17

@Tortoise90 congratulations on the newborn! Is you daughter still at Ibstock for 6th form and is she still enjoying it? I had heard no one got straight 9s this year there in GCSEs so congratulations to your daughter! Is the new head of 6th form any good? They’ve had a few lever the years so that worries me. Looking at 2024 entry but thinking ahead for progression in the school

Tortoise90 · 17/10/2023 10:45

Hiii, yes she got all 9s and one 8, so I guess technically true! She has stayed for 6th form. However quite a few of her friends didn’t get in to it, so she was a bit sad about that, there was a big drop in overall grades for sure, a lot of people didn’t get what they were expecting. She seems to be really enjoying it so far! And likes the head of 6th form. But it’s a bit early to tell really! She has always really loved it there! It seems to be “on the up” with the head that took over a couple of years ago. He’s much more progressive than the last female head (I forget her name, but my daughter says she was verrrrry old fashioned and staff didn’t like her). I’m friends with a couple of staff members due to working with them previously (I’m a teacher at a different private school too)
